Under the strict guidance of Mr Kelly, we were able to braze two pieces of copper piping together. When they were cool, Mr Cook cut the pipes open and critiqued the work done. Mine wasn’t the prettiest, but the inside showed that it was a decent braze with no holes, which made me ridiculously happy. We then split into small groups, each with our own system to clean, fi ll with R32 and pressure test. Throughout this session, the instructors both closely supervised our work, providing valuable insights, tips, and corrective guidance. We were taught how to handle R32 safely and perform pressure and temperature measurements. Learning to troubleshoot came naturally as some of us managed to create minor issues that needed troubleshooting. Working as a team though, we successfully completed the tasks and the moment we powered our unit on and felt the cooling eff ect, there was a satisfying sense of accomplishment. experience that deepened my understanding of cooling systems. The combination of theoretical foundations in the morning and hands-on practical training in the afternoon provided a comprehensive – if entertaining in ways I didn’t expect – learning experience.
