CONTENTS From the editor Taking action F

irst of all, don’t forget World Refrigeration Day on 26 June. People in industry are really buying into the concept with various companies and organisations holding seminars and site visits for local young people,

training and general networking events. Let’s tell the outside world what a wonderful sector this is to be a part of. Next on the agenda is climate change and the ‘Net Zero’ report that the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) published last month, urging the UK to step up and achieve a 100% reduction or off set of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 instead of the previously agreed 80%. You can choose to believe in climate change or not, but even the more extreme cynics acknowledge that the planet is a fi nite resource and, as with any good business, resources must be managed carefully to make sure they keep on giving. As an industry, legislation driven or not, we’re defi nitely doing our bit, but could always do more. Lastly, Women in RACHP is having a Career Development Day in Dudley

on 21 June. It was the fi nal episode of The Big Bang Theory in May, and Doctor Amy Farrah Fowler told young women who dream of becoming scientists in her Nobel Prize acceptance speech: “If anyone tells you you can’t, don’t listen.” Great advice for anyone.
