Saving energy, saving space


With over 7,500 forecourt sites in the UK featuring shops, and 50% of these found in locations with no other retail or service businesses nearby, forecourt convenience stores are a major provider to rural households for the weekly shop, top-up shopping and day-to-day purchases. Gary Fuller, key account manager at Hubbard Products, talks about the sector’s move into energy saving and the solutions that Hubbard provides.

necdotal reports suggest that as many as one in three visitors to UK forecourts don’t buy any fuel, making the sector an important hub for communities as a location where a wide range of products and services can be accessed.


By far the largest category in independent forecourt stores within the convenience sector is the refrigerated cabinet aisle, with 73% of all stores having between 5m


and 15m of cabinets.


With such a major investment, it is important that site owners understand the need for refrigeration efficiency as a means of keeping their costs under control and ensuring that their chilled and frozen offering is durable enough to cope with their long-term requirements.
