odern corrugated and box making plants are slick, streamlined operations driven by retailers and
brands needing just-in-time delivery, shorter runs and faster turn-around times. No company in this sector is the same – with
production runs varying from short to long. The requirements are vast and diverse to meet specific customer needs. Creasing matrix and associated accessories may not always be top of the list when it comes to a production investment strategy, but they can often be one of the most important factors in the successful productivity of a plant. One of the leading suppliers of specialist
creasing matrix products and accessories to the print and packaging industries, C&T Channel Matrix (C&T), plays a global role in ensuring that the evolving needs of the packaging producer are always taken into account.
customers in terms of direct sales contact here in the UK, backed up by our own highly skilled technical support. We can better service customers with a much wider range of matrix products, with access to a full rubber range and associated creasing accessories; everything die cutters require for successful ‘cut and crease’ from one supplier. We find increasingly that many clients don’t have the resource or time to purchase matrix from one supplier and then source rubber and accessories from another. C&T understands fully that busy production companies need the reassurance of dealing with one supplier who can provide a package of complementary products to ensure maximum efficiency in conversion.” Over the last 18 months, C&T has launched
several new types of matrix ranges for everyday and specialist creasing, including its pioneering matrix PINK, designed predominantly for the long run folding carton market. Another option is Corrugate, designed for
fluted board conversion. Its design prevents the industry problem of ‘knuckling’ – when the board creases upon folding with no clear definition to the crease. Launched at drupa earlier this year, Countamax
matrix (seen above), is made from phenolic resin. This has been developed as a high quality, durable and cost effective alternative to phenolic counter material - perfect for long run work.
A ONE STOP SHOP FOR ALL DIE CUTTING AND CREASING REQUIREMENTS C&T manufactures and distributes a vast array of rubber profiles for solid and corrugated boards, including the industry-leading SprintRubba range. “With over 60 per cent of rubbers specifically
designed for individual customer requirements, C&T has the engineering capability to produce exact and bespoke prototype rubber profiles within one week,” Shenton adds. He also explains why 2016 has seen a
fundamental change in strategy for C&T. “This year we have brought together one of the most far reaching matrix and rubber ranges, fully supported by a comprehensive range of cutting plates and accessories. The cutting range includes

new steel cutting plates that are suitable for BOBST, or similar machines, plus a full portfolio of plastic parts used by die makers. These include, ‘Carrots’, Centre Line Blocks and Edge Protectors. This new accessories range covers everything from cylinder jackets, bed plates, nicking chisels, bench presses and shim tapes.” In July, the company announced the supply of
high quality cutting and creasing steel rule directly from its Northamptonshire-based warehouse. The steel rule range offered by C&T is manufactured by GNU, a quality steel rule producer based in Germany.
CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO ALL MARKETS Shenton concludes: “Busy production companies need the peace of mind which comes from dealing with one supplier, who can provide creasing matrix and the appropriate complementary products. C&T understands the significant advantages to the production environment of cost saving benefits, enhanced durability as well as improved creasing that a full package can offer. We remain fully dedicated to bringing cutting-edge products to the market place and at the core of this is also our ability to design and manufacture new and specialist products.” Shenton confirms that this new approach is
already proving successful: “Our new and existing customers and partners are already welcoming our positive developments and have embraced the concept of a UK producer that is willing to develop their ideas.”
