Display Technology to install further clean rooms to meet optical bonding demand

D

isplay Technology Ltd (part of the Data Display Group) announces the upcoming installation of two new optical bonding production facilities. Due to significant demand, additional facilities in Dysina, Czech Republic and Ronkonkoma, NY will be used from July 2017.

During the VacuBond, optical bonding process components are bonded together using a high- performance silicone Opto a-Gel. The a-Gel fills the air gap between the cover glass and PCAP touch screen/LCD meaning there can be zero dirt contamination of dust or dirt. Also known as dry bonding, this process enhances the visual quality of the display and also improves the mechanical aspects.

The installation of two larger machines in 2016 means Display

Technology can bond displays up to a maximum size of 32”. By filling the air gap the reflection of light on the internal surfaces are reduced by 99 per cent giving excellent readability with massively improved contrast. Not only this, but they also maintain this quality and visibility even when being used outdoors or in bright conditions where ‘wash out’ would normally occur.

Optically bonding a display

improves its resistance to vibration and shock, making it appropriate for use in the industrial sector. Once a display has been optically bonded it also has improved heat dissipation properties so can be used in extreme temperatures and has the added advantage of eliminating the risk of condensation build up. In industries where performance and durability is important such as medical, industrial,

military and transportation applications, optical bonding provides the ideal solution. An increasing amount of manufacturers now provide TFT’s with an integrated PCAP touch screen as a user interface. Infinite Touch is Display Technology’s fully customisable PCAP touch technology. Appropriately named due to the infinite possibilities of customisation including shape, thickness and aesthetics. The cover glass is unique to every customer’s requirement and can include cut outs and screen printing for company logos or branding. Infinite Touch screens have the touch sensor optically bonded to the rear cover glass in order to give a modern true flat touch feel which eliminates the need for the bezel. Set up is minimal and Infinite is also possible for low volume requirements

Formed in 2001, Display

Technology Ltd are the UK member of the Munich based Data Display / Fortec Group. Specialising in LCD and associated products the group aims to offer broad line logistics with the flexibility of a specialist distributor. The focus has always been on offering a quality product, a professional service and a strong continuity of supply. Last year’s merge with Fortec has allowed Display Technology Ltd access to increased product range and stockholding including the Tianma NLT TFT line, power supplies and embedded products giving Display Technology one of the most comprehensive display line card’s in the UK.
