Engine versions General guidelines How to use the engine version matrix for gas engines


Jenbacher gas engines Methane number (MN)


For type 6 F versions • for MN = 70 – 80 –> use version F11 or F12 • for MN = 80 – 90 –> use Version F01 or F02 • for MN > 84 –> use Version F09


If MN fluctuates from 70 – 90 –> engine versions with 11.5 : 1 CR are mandatory (F11 or F12) and valid for a MN operating band 70 – 80; engine data of this version at operation with MN 80 – 90 are shown in the energy balance of F05 and F06. F05 and F06 data sheets are available on request from CommOps.


For type J624 H versions • for MN = 70 – 80 –> use version H11 or H12 • for MN = 80 – 90 –> use Version H01 or H02 • for MN > 84 –> use Version H09

CO emissions No guarantees without exhaust gas aftertreatment regarding CO emissions in general!


Exception:


For biogas versions series 2, 3 & 4: CO < 1000 mg/Nm³ @ 5 % O2- dry can be achieved, deposits in the combustion chamber may require a periodical decoking of the engine. Emission values are only valied with reference to sampling and measuring methode. For details please contact our Commercial Operations team in the headquarter.


Energy input


Energy input is according to DIN ISO 3046 and DIN 6271, respectively, with a tolerance of + 5 %;


Base for Biogas and sewage gas version: 65 % CH4 / 35 % CO2 (expect J 312 C225 is based on 50 % CH4 / 40 % CO2 / Rest N2, O2) Base for Landfill gas version: 55 % CH4 / 40 % CO2 / Rest N2, O2 Derating at lower methane content according Annex 21.


Maintenance schedule – additional information


Biogas Change to maintenance schedule _B for MBT biogas plants (mechanical biological treatment of waste) or if gas quality does not comply with limits of TI 1000-0300 regarding CO-Oxidation catalyst.


Landfill gas Change to maintenance schedule _D for landfill gas with TSA. Type 6: Change to maintenance schedule _D for sewage gas with TSA / activated carbon gas cleaning.


Limited release - controlled ramp up Any offer of engine versions marked as “Limited release - controlled ramp up” need to be approved by HQ Jenbach / Commops. The delivery time stated in the offer is valid 1 month and has to be confirmed after the due date again without any exception. For all these engines version an internet access is mandatory.


Waukesha gas engines WKI Explanation:


The Waukesha Knock Index (WKI*) is GE’s Waukesha gas engines analytical tool for calculating the knock resistance of a gaseous fuel based on a fuel analysis. The WKI is a methane based tool which is more in depth than typical methane numbers. It is designed to accurately determine how a fuel composition will affect the com- bustion process based on proprietary calculations by Waukesha gas engines.
