Safe in explosion-proof areas
iPEK were recently asked to Demo our Ex Zone 1 equipment in Sheffield to AA Sewercare for a new potential client. As our equipment wholly met the brief iPEK were chosen to supply a system and a van fit out.
iPEK’s range of equipment has been designed and manufactured in order to comply with Ex Zone 1 industry requirements. The highest degree of safety is top priority when working in explosion-protected zones. The iPEK pipeline inspection systems ROVION EX and AGILIOS EX are one of a few to guarantee to meet this requirement.
Permanent monitoring of the single components and Ex Zone 1 approval stand for absolute safety and reliability in all application areas. Individual pressure-encapsulated system components enable an uncomplicated modification of the system configuration and ensure short set-up times and easy servicing.
Hazardous areas are classified into zones based on an assessment of the frequency of the occurrence and duration of an explosive gas atmosphere, as follows:
Zone 0: An area in which an explosive gas atmosphere is present continuously or for long periods;
Zone 1:An area in which an explosive gas atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation;
Zone 2:An area in which an explosive gas atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation and, if it occurs, will only exist for a short time.
Where people wish to quantify the zone definitions, these values are the most appropriate, but for the majority of situations a purely qualitative approach is adequate.
When the hazardous areas of a plant have been classified, the remainder will be defined as non- hazardous, sometimes referred to as 'safe areas'.
“Once we had settled on a system we proceeded with the build with iPEK keeping us informed throughout the process and inviting us to see the build prior to completion. The finished vehicle and equipment was perfect for the needs of our now new client. We are now able to work for them up and down the country on EX Zone 1 sites.”
“Of course, the ROVION EX and AGILIOS EX inspection systems are scalable, therefore as our company continues to grow we can incorporate suitable extension modules from iPEK to suit our needs for operation in explosion-protected zones
