Main Feature

upload completed inspection reports from site so that the client can access the data with almost immediate effect.

Where this can be advantageous is when the contractor doing the inspection is also the contractor that would complete remedial or repair works on the pipeline inspected. If an immediate response is possible from the client, the contactor may be able to affect the repair without a second site visit, so saving time, money and manpower.

An example of the type of vehicle availability is that offered by Mini-Cam, a pipeline inspection equipment specialist which provides a custom van fit- out service for drainage industry clients across the UK and abroad.

Vehicles fitted out by Mini-Cam provide a fully-equipped mobile operations base for CCTV pipeline inspections.

Greg Guest, UK sales manager at Mini-Cam said: “We have recently relocated the van fit-out operation to larger premises, with a timber cutting area, soft furnishing department and multi-bay installation workshop. All joinery, furnishing and electrical work is carried out in- house.”

All makes and models can be fitted out, with about 90% of orders for medium wheel base, high-roof vehicles which enable the operators to stand in the studio and rear working areas.

The most popular of these are the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the Volkswagen Crafter, Renault Master, Vauxhall Movano and Fiat Ducato. Mini-Cam also fits out smaller vehicles, including the Mercedes- Benz Vito and the Volkswagen Transporter, which are mainly used in urban locations, such as city centres and underground car parks. Mini-Cam also fits out off-road vehicles for use in remote locations. The company’s customers range from one-man operators to nationwide companies.

The vehicles are typically used to find and record faults within drainage systems and to conduct surveys to assess their structural condition and identify any pipe collapses, rot damage or blockages. It means that any problems can accurately pin-pointed and promptly rectified.
