Nutrition Assessment of Anthropometrics, Biomedical Data, Medical Tests, and Procedures
INTRODUCTION
This chapter addresses nutrition assessment topics related to two categories in the International Dietetics and Nutri- tion Terminology (1): (a) Anthropometric Measurements; and (b) Biochemical Data, Medical Tests, and Procedures.
ANTHROPOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS
Relevant anthropometric data in the nutrition assessment may include the following:
• Current weight • Current height • Current body mass index (BMI) • Recent weight change relative to usual body weight • Highest and lowest body weights and the circum- stances in which those weights occurred
• Body composition as determined by DEXA or other methods
