for anorexia or bulimia, a catch-all diagnostic category is provided. This diagnosis is “eating disorders not other- wise specified” (EDNOS). EDNOS is not an eating dis- order in itself, nor should it be considered a less severe form of anorexia or bulimia. It is simply a category that can include many variations of eating disorders not yet defined. A 5th edition of the DSM, DSM-V, is expected to be published in 2013. The eating disorders section is likely to be updated with changes to the diagnostic cri- teria (18). Boxes 1.1 through 1.4 provide the diagnostic criteria for eating disorders as published in the DSM-IV- TR (17). The numbers in parentheses represent the asso- ciated ICD–9 codes.
