CBC Omaha Celebrates 50 Years by Renee Calvin, Community Bible Church Administrator

Community Bible Church (CBC) of Omaha, Neb., celebrated 50 years of serving the Lord in November with a weekend-long celebra- tion! Te weekend of November 18-20 was entitled “Celebrate.” as we focused on celebrating God’s faithfulness and providence to CBC over the last 50 years. Te weekend began with “An Evening of Praise,” held at the Paxton Ballroom in Omaha, with a time of reminiscing and remember-

ing with many of our charter members and regular CBC attenders. Jim Walter shared memories of how CBC began, and what church life was like in the early days. He, along with his wife Lois, was honored with special recognition as the first pastor of CBC. On Saturday, we wanted to include our church neighborhood in the celebration, so a “Birthday Bash” was thrown; complete with

party food, games, and giſts (prizes) for our guests to receive. Many families from our neighborhood came, and we were able to share in the celebration with them. Our weekend wrapped up on Sunday, with our annual Tanksgiving service held at Ralston High School, so our entire church body

could worship together in one service. It has been the tradition of CBC, since its very beginning, to have a special service and lunch together on the Sunday before Tanksgiving. Tis year’s service was even more special — being the 50th annual gathering. Titus 2:11 (VOICE) was our key verse for the weekend, and it carries us right into the Christmas season as well, “We have cause to CELEBRATE because the grace of God has appeared, offering the giſt of salvation to all people.”
