During the conversation, Ward asked Haycraft, “How would you like to start your own MRO shop?” When Mike threw the question to Haycraft, it caught him a bit off guard. “I don’t know Mike,” Haycraft told Ward. “I’m 25 years into this. That’s a lot of risk. I’m pretty happy where I am.” Haycraft told Ward he would stay in touch. A couple of weeks later, Mike Ward and Bob Rasberry contacted Haycraft again and told him the deal in San Antonio had fallen through. They asked Haycraft if he knew of any big hangars they might be able to acquire. “As a matter of fact, I do,” Haycraft responded. “There’s a couple of hangars in Alton, IL.” “Where the [heck] is Alton?” Ward asked. “The identifi er is ALN,” Haycraft responded. “Look it up!” The hangar Haycraft was referring to was Hangar

64. Back in the 1980’s it was an old military depot maintenance provider. Haycraft’s friend Dr. Joel Schnieder was a cardiologist and pilot who wanted to buy the hangars had taken him to the hangar. As they stood there in Hanger 64, Schneider told Haycraft they should buy the hangars and start a maintenance business. Haycraft thought he was crazy at the time. Fast forward to 2001, and three weeks after telling them of the hanger availability at ALN, Ward and Rasberry called Haycraft and told him they got the hangars and had started a big aircraft modifi cation company called Completion Air. “Are you ready to come on board and start your MRO now?” they asked Haycraft. quite ready to make the move. Rasberry called in December of 2001 and told Haycraft that they could buy in to Premier Air Center which was a Authorized Cessna Citation Service Center and FBO at ALN with 75 employees. “Are you ready to come on board now?” he asked. Swehla, Durst and Haycraft discussed it and decided they were ready to make the move. Two months later, in February 2002, Premier Air center had new owners and management – Haycraft, Swehla and Durst. They also had a new name – Premier/West Star Aviation. Completion Air was owned and managed by Mike Ward. Bob Rasberry owned and managed both companies.

WEST STAR AVIATION In 2005 West Star Aviation acquired Premier Air Center in GJT. It was a Lear and Cessna Conquest center with 200 + employees on the western slope in Colorado started by a group of ex-Duncan employees. By this time Completion Air had closed as the big aircraft market dried up. For a few years the company operated as Premier/West Star Aviation, and fi nally dropped the Premier name due to so many Premier names in the market.
