ROYAL TIGERS AND ANCIENT PHILOSOPHY
The region of Madhya Pradesh lies at the rich heart of Incredible India!
Madhya Pradesh is famous in the world for the exquisitely carved ancient Khajuraho temple. The great variety of Fauna and flora of the Deccan Plateau make Madhya Pradesh one of the richest wildlife destinations in India. The national parks of Pench, Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Panna are best examples of the synergy of conservation and professional tourism management. If you are looking for tigers, Madhya Pradesh is the place to be with around 20% of India’s tiger population; India itself has about half of the worldwide tiger population. Madhya Pradesh is home to several national parks, including Kanha and Pench, which were the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’. Beside this, the state is home to forts, Stupas, palaces, waterfalls and national parks. Must-see places includes the beautiful heritage towns of Mandu and Orchha, the Khajuraho temple, the Sanchi Stupa, the rock shelters of Bhimbetka and the Pachmarhi hill stations. There is so much more to explore in Madhya Pradesh, such as the cave temples, hidden waterfalls, historic monuments and forested ranges in the heart of India.
The development of new destinations is a high priority and a continuous process. Major efforts are under way to develop new tourism products such as the – National tourism award winner – Heritage Walk in Bhopal. Bhopal, the city of lakes, has some remarkable historical buildings which reflect the taste of the erstwhile rulers and the contemporary architectural trends. The routes are designed to take

With emphasis on better infrastructure, especially in the fields of power and roads, destinations in Madhya Pradesh have become more accessible and tourist friendly. The state is aware of the employment generating potential of the tourism sector and pays special attention to guide training programmes. There is a focus on making monuments disabled friendly; projects such as the Monuments in Amarkantak are great examples. Amarkantak is one of the top pilgrim destinations in India with a number of temples of great importance; and the origin of the Narmada and Son rivers. The temples are visited by a large number of tourists, including the differently abled, and consequently, many monuments have developed facilities like wheelchair
access, Braille signs and literature, with special toilets and specially laid pathways for visually challenged. Madhya Pradesh Tourism is participating at WTM London with its own stand [IN130] to showcase its high potential tourism attractions including three World Heritage sites: Khajuraho, Sanchi and Bhimbetka.
