buyers. Airline spend is forecast to rise, with 85 per cent of buyers – compared to 76 per cent last year – set to spend the same or more. Of that 85 per cent, 40 per cent have bigger budgets in 2017. Just 15 per cent will spend less.

The survey also found duty-of-care and security becoming a greater priority, rising to second place in buyers’ top concerns from fourth last year (see chart opposite). And new to the list for 2017 was Brexit. When it comes to so-called ‘sharing economy’ providers, Uber appears to be making inroads into managed travel: 56 per
cent of buyers said their travellers are using the taxi app more than last year, compared to 17 per cent for Airbnb. This year’s show will feature 270 exhibitors and 40 education sessions, including pre-show content on February 21 exclusively for hosted buyers. Content ranges from fundamentals for beginners to advanced sessions for buyers with mature programmes. Topics include personalisa- tion, distribution, social media policies and duty-of-care.
