Polymer Testing & Analysis | event preview
We preview the fi rst Polymer Testing & Analysis conference, which takes place next month in Cologne, Germany
Looking ahead to the Polymer Testing & Analysis conference
Polymer Testing & Analysis is a new conference from AMI that is aimed at scientists, laboratory staff, researchers and R&D professionals who develop, test and analyse new polymer materials, formulations and fi nished products. Taking place on 12-14 April 2016 in Cologne, Germany, the event is attracting strong interest – at the time of writing, over 75 people from 19 countries are already signed up for the conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover and
debate the latest innovations and best practices in polymer testing, characterisation and analysis. In addition to a busy two-day programme of presentations from leading players in the market, Polymer Testing & Analysis will feature an exhibition area and provide high-level networking for professionals from through- out the plastics supply chain. Here we preview the event with a look at the expert
speakers lined up for the seven conference sessions that will take place on 13 and 14 April, focusing on different areas of testing and analysing plastics materials and products.
Raising the bar for polymer testing The opening session of the conference will provide an overview on the practical aspects of testing plastics, starting with a presentation by Dr Thomas Fabian,
www.compoundingworld.com
US-based research manager at UL, the global safety science company (previously known as Underwriters Laboratories). His opening address is going to provide practical guidance on materials testing for end product developers. He will be followed by Steven Burns, who is
development manager at Impact Solutions, a UK- based accredited testing laboratory that was spun out from BP Chemicals and has expertise in areas such as pipe testing, dangerous goods packaging and acceler- ated weathering. His presentation in Cologne will focus on the SMART and non-destructive testing of polymers.
Improving quality Materials testing plays a critical role in improving and assuring product quality, and these themes will form the focus of the second session at the Polymer Testing & Analysis conference. Product appearance will be the subject of the
session’s fi rst paper, which will be delivered by Felix Schmollgruber, application engineering manager EMEA at X-Rite, the colour management systems supplier. His talk will extend beyond colour and will examine how to measure total appearance on polymer based surfaces. A different aspect of quality-control will be covered
