Breen Color acquires Hudson
Breen Color Concentrates has acquired its near-neigh- bour Hudson Color Concen- trates. No terms were disclosed, though Breen said that it remains on the look-out for further deals. This is the first acquisi- tion US-based Breen Color has made since itself being acquired by private equity firm Capital Partners. Annual sales for the combined entity are expected to amount to around $65m. According to Breen
President Howard DeMonte, there is very little overlap between the two business- es. Breen, for instance, makes some PVC-based materials while Hudson is active in areas such as PA concentrates. Headquartered at
Leominster, Massachu- setts, Breen has facilities there and at Niles, Illinois, which mainly use continu- ous mixers. Hudson’s site, also at Leominster, mostly uses twin-screw extrusion equipment. ❙

Toyo Ink expands in Mexico
Toyo Ink and wholly owned subsidiary LioChem have expanded their production footprint in the Americas with the formation of a new plastic colorant manufacturing and sales base in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The new subsidiary, Toyo
Ink Mexico, was established in November last year and will begin production in April this year. Toyo Ink said it will supply Lioplax series custom colorants to the growing packaging, consumer and automotive markets in Mexico and neighbouring countries. “This expansion demon-
strates our commitment to the region and the plastic colorants sector,” said John Easley, the inaugural Presi-
dent of Toyo Ink Mexico and former production manager of LioChem’s plastic colorants division. “The new facility will give us the additional capacity and capability to service and supply our customers throughout the Americas with greater speed and flexibility.”
The new production plant
will be Toyo Ink Group’s second plastic colorant manufacturing base in North America and its thirteenth worldwide. It will include a colour matching and applications development centre. ❙

Toyo Ink is expanding its North American presence Infinity LTL extends Reflection
Infinity LTL Engineered Compounds, a maker of custom compounded engi- neered thermoplastics based in Morrisville, Pennsylvania in the US, is introducing its Surlyn Reflection Series brand of thermoplastic alloy in the Asia-Pacific region. The resins will be produced at a site owned by Infinity LTL
parent company, Americhem, at Suzhou in China. Surlyn Reflection Series
resins comprise a patented alloy of DuPont’s Surlyn ionomer-class resin and PA 6. They are said to provide chemical resistance, excellent weatherability, scratch and mar resistance, durability and low temperature impact
strength with colour brilliance, surface gloss and distinctive image, plus full recyclability. Infinity LTL Engineered Compounds was created in December 2014 when Americhem’s Infinity Engi- neered Compounds subsidiary acquired LTL Color Com- pounders. ❙
