❙ Baerlocher has completed a second phase of expansion at its oleochemical plant in Americana, Brazil, taking total production capacity to more than 30,000 tonnes/ year. The company claims this will enable it to rapidly supply multiple Latin American industries, including cosmetics manufacturing, hygiene, cleaning and food processing. According to Baerlocher, the plant is one of the most advanced stearic acids operations worldwide.

Gabriel-Chemie secures Cairo stadium contract
Gabriel-Chemie has won a contract to produce master- batch for the production of approximately 20,000 stadium seats in the Main Hall of a new part of a stadium complex being built in Cairo to host the World Handball Championship in 2021. The new stadium, which will seat 20,000 visitors, is 120 metres long and 39.5 metres high. The complex, originally built in 1991, is Africa’s largest indoor arena. Gabriel-Chemie will supply

Elix said the investment is part of its ongoing ‘Excellence in Operations’ programme designed to offer more customised compounds and shorter lead times. This has already seen considerable investment in assets over the last two years and has resulted, the company said, “in a more flexible plant and improvements of the scrap rate levels and reduced consump- tion of water and energy”. ❙
