FEATURE SURFACE DESIGN SHOW 2017
Surface Design Show 2017 –
Where Surfaces Come Alive
Following another successful year, Surface Design Show will this year return to London’s Business Design Centre. We take a look at what and who will be at the Show.
Surface Design Show, running from 7-9th February 2017, is the only event in the UK that focuses solely on interior and exterior surfaces, connecting innovative and exciting materials with an audience of architects, specifiers and designers.
Since its launch in 2005, the show has become the hotspot for industry people to immerse themselves in the latest materials for the built environment, gain new insights and network with like-minded designers, architects and suppliers.
2016 saw 5,699 visitors attend Surface Design Show, a significant increase from 2015. The professional and trade visitors consisted of architectural, interior design, lighting design or multi design practices, with 36% choosing to attend Surface Design over any other architectural design show.
The Show’s Event Director, Christopher Newton, said: “2016 saw the show extending to the gallery level for the first time, creating the biggest and best show to date.
“In 2017, visitors can expect even more exhibitors, both international and from the UK. A detailed programme of events has been carefully curated ensuring that visitors will be engaged throughout the two and a half days.
“Over 160 exhibitors have already signed up for
2017, with more to be confirmed over the next few months. Returning brands include Altfield, Concreate and James Latham, whilst new brands already confirmed are Lovell Stone, Nordcell and Visive.”
Surface Design Show 2017 is full of brand new ideas and firm favourites, refreshed to provide the specifying audience with a unique visiting

experience. Some of the events that will be included in the packed programme will be the Preview Evening Live Debate, Surface Spotlight Live and the Surface Design Awards.
Surface Design Awards recognises and celebrates outstanding examples of progressive design and the use of innovative surfaces in projects both in the UK and internationally. Divided into interior and exterior categories, there are 13 awards across 7 different categories, and each project is judged on a range of criteria including the type of surface, the use of materials and aesthetic design. In 2016 there were 32 finalists, with IPT Architects taking the honour of becoming Surface Design Awards Supreme Winner 2016 for their Howe Farm project. The awards presentation will take place on Thursday 9th February 2017 during Surface Design Show.
