CLEANING COMMUNITY SHINES AS COMMERCIAL CLEANING FIRM SWEEPS UP REGIONAL VANARAMA VAN HERO AWARD

Stuart Alexander of Glasgow’s Ultra Clear Cleaning is celebrating after being selected from applicants across the UK as regional finalist in a competition to find Britain’s Best Van Hero.

The competition, designed to recognise the entrepreneurialism of the great British van driver was open to van or pickup truck driving independent businesses, no matter what their trade or industry. So the fact that the finalist is from the cleaning industry is testament to its ever increasing professionalism.

Since establishing his business, Stuart has been proud to make a difference in the local community, having grown it sufficiently to employ cleaning staff from across the local

area. Already working for big-names across Scotland, Stuart’s really excited to be selected as a finalist. He said: “Too many van drivers get a bad press, so it’s refreshing to be recognised for the hard work and commitment we’ve put into building up our business.

“Being in with a chance of winning a van lease or £5,000 cash is amazing. For a small business like my own, having another vehicle on the road doing business, would make a huge difference to our cash flow and mean that we could grow further.”

Suppliers Association (CHSA), Shaun Chatterton has been named a Life Vice President of the CHSA.

Shaun has been an active member of the CHSA since its formation. He has served as Chairman of the Association and is now the driving force behind the annual Golf Day. This year Shaun persuaded former Premier League and England footballer, Ian Wright to take part and in the process helped raise a record £6,500 for the Chairman’s charity, Helping Treat Cancer Together Committee.

“Shaun’s contribution has been exceptional over many years,” said Stephen Harrison, Chairman of the CHSA. “He has been instrumental in sustaining the CHSA and making it the influential trade association it is today.

“We are delighted to recognise his contribution by making him a Life Vice President of the Association and are looking forward to his continued involvement.”

Stuart’s is one of five UK finalists who have been shortlisted and are now in the running to receive a three-year free van lease or £5,000.

Andy Alderson, Managing Director and founder of Vanarama added: “Over the past few months we’ve encouraged people to vote for inspirational tradespeople in their local communities. The fact that Stuart’s business has been chosen as one of our regional finalists is testament to the conscientious, caring and customer focussed nature of his work. We want to showcase van drivers like Stuart; hard-workers, running their own business, following their dreams while helping their communities at the same time – a real credit to the van driving population.”

The national winner of the Vanarama Van Hero Awards will be announced later this month.

Speaking about his appointment, Shaun Chatterton said: “The CHSA has had a significant impact in the cleaning and hygiene sector, driving up standards and providing a great forum for networking. I’ve loved being part of the Association and feel honoured to be recognised with this appointment.”

Shaun Chatterton founded CPD plc, one of the UK’s largest independent distributors of cleaning and hygiene products, serving clients in the UK, across Europe and around the world. During CPD’s 25-year trading history, the company’s turnover grew every year and has achieved a cumulative total in excess of £200million.

Shaun is now CEO of Floreon. Floreon is a specially formulated compound, which is added to standard bioplastic polylactic acid (PLA) to create an innovative material with a sustainable origin and a range of end of life options. It was created from a desire for a greener, safer form of plastic.
