Ideal Night At The LADAs
Ideal Manufacturing had cause for celebration at the Laundry & Dry Cleaning Awards (LADAs), picking up two awards on the night.
Lauren Hackett won the Apprentice of the Year award, while the Northampton-based chemical manufacturer’s founder, Dr Mike Kalli, was presented with the inaugural Lifetime Achievement award.
The award came as something of a surprise to Dr Mike, who had no idea he had even been nominated until his name was read out, but he still remained humble afterwards.
He said: “A Lifetime Contribution award somehow suggests that you are all done and there’s no more to come, but that’s not the case. I’m hoping that the best is still to come along with my son, Phillip, and the team here at Ideal. We’ve got a great bunch of people here so the future is bright.
“That’s not to say that I’m not grateful or appreciative of the recognition.
the European Federation for the Cleaning Industry (EFCI) as the exclusive UK representative.
The decision was made after a presentation from Andreas Lill, Director General of the EFCI, discussing the benefits of joining the federation. During his presentation, he talked about the new realities in the market, such as globalisation and the integration of services, as well as how the BCC could help to develop and influence policy in Europe if they were members.
During the meeting, the Council also discussed and accepted the F&P recommendation that Simon Hollingbery be appointed as the new Chairman at the AGM in July, although the position of Vice Chairman is still to be resolved.

It’s wonderful to be recognised for your contribution to the industry, and I truly am very grateful to have been recognised by fellow industry professionals.
“I do hope, however, that my son doesn’t inflict any more surprises like that on me, it’s more than an old boy can cope with!”
And Lauren was equally made up with her award win. She said: “I was delighted to find out that I had been nominated for Apprentice of the Year and overwhelmed when my name was called out as the winner.
“I would like to thank Ideal for the encouragement and support throughout my training; it’s an honour to be a part of the team.”
The Laundry & Dry Cleaning Awards aim to celebrate skills, recognise hard work, identify role models, provide encouragement for future careers and recognise past contributions for companies and individuals in the professional textile care industry.
Alongside their two successes, Ideal Manufacturing was also runner up in the Best New Product award for its Mini Roll-On Spotter kit.
