New School Of Thought

We hear all about how a recent partnership between Guildford High School and Source Supplies Ltd has helped to reduce paper consumption, drive down costs and help the school to reach its own lofty standards.

“The moment you walk through the door at Guildford High School you can feel the buzz, the energy and the excitement. Walking through the corridors you hear laughter, chatter and debate but, most of all, you become aware of the warmth, friendship, happiness and passion for learning and for new challenges that exist within our community.”

This is how Mrs Fiona Boulton, Headmistress of Guildford High School describes the school on their own web site. This high praise is quickly justified by reviewing the vast number of school achievements listed on the site, including being named Independent School of the Year 2012-13.

With a mission to “provide a first class education for academically able girls”, the school is actually made up of three schools; junior, senior and sixth form, with a combined population of nearly 1000 pupils across the campus. And because of this, it is important that they have the right suppliers in place to deal with the high traffic.

Ollie Rastall, Sales Director, Source Supplies Ltd explained: “It makes sense that a school of this standing should have quality paper solutions to underpin their aims, and we are very pleased to have been working with them for more than three years to help them achieve this, providing a comprehensive range of cleaning and washroom supplies, including Katrin Hand Towels.”

Eliminating Waste The deal with Source Supplies was a prime opportunity for the school to try to cut down on their waste levels,

with the introduction of some new products. Ollie added: “The school was a high user of C-fold hand towels and blue centrefeed roll. We proposed a trial of the Katrin System Hand Towel to replace both the hand towels and centrefeed, and we tested it in several high traffic areas including the art department, sixth form common room and science labs.”

All three areas responded positively and opted to move across to the System permanently. Penny Terry, the school’s Cleaning Manager said: “The result was the elimination of the mass of wasted paper towels and reams of blue centrefeed that had previously piled up in the waste bins by lunchtime. As well as only needing one product instead of two and the reduction in waste, the dispensers need much less attention. The centrefeed dispenser in the common room only ever lasted a couple of days at best. The Katrin System Roll towel only needs restocking once week.”

Does What It

Says On The Box One of the reasons that Source Supplies’ partnership with Guildford High School is such a success is the relative simplicity of it, and the positive relationship that the two have been able to develop. With no added complications, it means the products can do the talking, making it a win-win deal for both parties.

Ollie added: “Penny and her team continue to be a pleasure to work with and it gives us a real sense of achievement to watch our customers benefit from the financial and

resource savings that we know the Katrin Systems can achieve – they really do sell themselves.

“Efficiency is always what we set out to provide, and once a customer follows our advice and trials a Katrin system, we are pleased and proud to say that it is inevitably what we deliver.”
