Germs Can’t Touch This
The UK-based hand hygiene compliance specialist, Pure Hold Limited, has introduced a new product for the fight against surface cross- contamination. The Hampshire-based company is now the sole UK supplier of the NanoTouch Self-Cleaning Surface, a specialist adhesive material which utilises light to kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. This is alongside the Pure Hold Hygiene Handle, a novel gel-dispensing hygienic door handle, which assists with preventing the spread of harmful pathogens by ensuring hand sanitation and reducing the transmission of germs from touch- points to the hand.
The NanoTouch Self-Cleaning Surface is a new product in the fight against the spread of germs via touch surfaces. As an adhesive material, installation is very simple – it requires only to be peeled and stuck onto the surface where it immediately begins to kill harmful pathogens. The material utilises ‘green’ chemistry, where a light-powered catalytic oxidation process, which is more powerful
Hydro Systems Launches First Venturi Laundry Unit
Hydro Systems has announced the launch of EvoClean, the world’s first venturi laundry unit.
EvoClean is a compact and extremely low-maintenance unit. This is made possible, because unlike competitor offerings, EvoClean has no moving parts or peristaltic tubes.
“We recognise that operators are under increasing pressure to reduce costs, while improving performance.” said Geoff Sallows, Technical Director of Hydro Systems Europe.
“With EvoClean no routine maintenance or 66
than bleach, kills bacteria, viruses and fungi. However the material and process is entirely harmless as no toxins or poisons are discharged.
The NanoTouch Self-Cleaning Surface delivers a comprehensive safeguard against the spread of harmful pathogens via high-frequency touch points. It is ideal for push- plates, door handles, hand rails and many other more sensitive areas. It is particularly suited to sensitive food preparation areas and can be fitted to trolley handles, food preparation surfaces and the handles of refrigerators. One leading food processing facility obtained promising results when trialling the NanoTouch
tube replacement is required, and as a result, operators aren’t faced with the associated costs.
“Hydro Systems is the industry leader in venturi technology. EvoClean incorporates our latest venturis to guarantee flow consistency from low pressure. This ensures exactly the right amount of chemicals are diluted every time, regardless of the water pressure.”
EvoClean is suitable for all laundry environments, large or small and comes ready for either industrial or on premise laundry environments.
“EvoClean is a well-designed and compact unit. With a small foot print and no peristaltic tubes, it is ideal for environments where space is limited,” Mr Sallows said.
With a high output of up to 700mls per min, EvoClean dispenses from three to eight products and features
an integrated control system. It also offers an integrated flush manifold and an “out-of-product” alarm.
Additional features of EvoClean include remote formula selection and external alarm, Mls/kg programming function and USB programming up to 21 Formulas. It comes fully field tested and also features three modular component systems.

Self-Cleaning Surface on a surface holding raw chicken.
The NanoTouch Self-Cleaning Surface is self-cleaning at a microscopic level so only requires cleaning if stained by dirt or from other blemishes. It works continuously, unlike standard surface cleaners such as disinfectants, which require repeating or topping-up. The NanoTouch Self-Cleaning Surface has been tested in field trials in the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry and in healthcare in addition to laboratory tests. In one test in a hospital the surface killed 88% of MRSA and 100% of
E.coli in one hour.
