FLOORCARE & MAINTENANCE MF

The EU legislation challenged vacuum

cleaner manufacturers to use less power without compromising on performance. Less energy means you have to be smarter in the way you use it and this thinking proved to be a huge catalyst for design innovation at Vax Commercial. Our engineers spent two years prior to the legislation working on ways to make our corded vacuums work better with less energy, resulting in innovation in motor and filtration technology. It also enabled us to develop our cordless technology, like our VCSD-03 hard floor spot washer.

Is it possible for a vacuum cleaner to deliver the same

quality of cleaning and suction at a reduced wattage? If so, how?

Having a low wattage vacuum motor does not mean you have

to compromise on suction and the quality of the clean you can achieve. It’s actually quite the opposite; the new legislation has challenged our design teams to look at every aspect of the product from motor quality and efficiency, air flow and filtration to the quality of the tools used. As a result, you get a vacuum cleaner that delivers improved cleaning performance, but ultimately operates more efficiently.

Is reducing energy consumption

something that Vax Commercial is consciously working towards?

MF

As a leading floorcare manufacturer, we know our

products need to be competitive. It’s not just the initial purchase that’s important; on-going costs or a machine’s ‘cost in use’ needs to be economical too. That’s why I'm incredibly proud of our VCC-08A vacuum cleaner. Its improved suction saves time for the cleaning operative as you can pick up more in one pass. Coupled with its A-rated energy efficiency (just 26.6kWh/annum), our VCC-08A has that winning formula.

What do you believe the future holds for not just the cleaning

industry, but the floorcare sector specifically? Where do you see the industry going in the next few years?

MF

Cordless is the future of the floorcare market. Battery-

powered technology has become integral in all areas of our lives, because cordless products offer the ultimate in convenience.

From our learnings within the domestic market, we

know that cordless is now the fastest growing category in floorcare and we believe that in five years’ time the majority of products will be cord-free.

Technology that improves time and cost efficiency will also play a major role. Simplifying mundane tasks through pioneering yet easy to use cleaning solutions, improving productivity and delivering results that satisfy the needs of buyers, managers, cleaning operatives and users will be the key. That’s why we designed the VCW-06 carpet washer. We used research to enable us to develop a compact, easy to use and maintain machine that not only ensures optimum user comfort but ultimately delivers a brilliant deep clean.

It’s an exciting time for the industry and working for an energetic, vibrant company like Vax Commercial means the team will have plenty to shout about in the coming months.
