Organisers of last month’s Glastonbury Festival opted for Polaris Plastics’ eco- friendly, compostable refuse sacks. More than 100,000 sacks were used throughout the Festival, which ran from 24 to 28 June, at all waste locations across the 900-acre site.
The sacks have been provided by the same Polaris distributor for the last two years. The sacks conform to the international environmental standard EN 14342 giving the organisers the assurance that the sacks will fully compost along with the waste in the sack. Polaris Plastics has a proven track record of providing eco-friendly refuse sacks to major events as they provided compostable and other sacks for the London 2012 Olympics and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
“We were delighted to be providing the refuse sacks for another high profile event,” said Paul Wilkes, Business Development Director of Polaris Plastics. “These events are consistently choosing to compost their waste and our compostable sacks are ideal because of the performance and environmental certification. We are increasingly being seen as our distributors’ preferred choice for major events.”

The company also has a long-standing commitment to supplying standard and bespoke refuse sacks in the janitorial market and catering markets.
Not only are the compostable sacks and liners certified for performance, Polaris is also a founder member of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers’ Association’s Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Scheme for Plastic Refuse Sacks, and as such its products are independently tested to CHSA standards and regularly audited.
