Natalie Hanlon Leh:
Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale Fabricio Vayra has joined the fi rm’s IP
practice. Vayra focuses on trademarks, internet policy issues, and domain name counselling and enforcement. He was previously assistant general counsel
for IP at media company Time Warner. Paul Parker, co-chair of Perkins Coie’s IP
practice, said: “He is a great addition to our national IP practice and enhances the high level of counsel and service we provide to our valued clients.”
K&L Gates adds two partners in Washington, DC
Law fi rm K&L Gates has added a partner each to its IP litigation and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) practices in Washington, DC. Joon Yoon, who will work in the litigation
practice, joins from law fi rm Reitler, Kailas & Rosenblatt. Grace Fremlin, a new member of the M&A practice, joins from law fi rm Steptoe & Johnson. Yoon focuses on patent
litigation and also
negotiates licensing and settlement agreements. Fremlin has experience in representing clients in M&A transactions and advising on IP asset use. David Case, administrative partner in K&L
Gates’s Washington, DC offi ce, said: “Our IP practice in Washington continues to grow and will be further strengthened through the arrivals.”

Jane Owen: Bird & Bird
has appointed Mark Anderson as chair of its IP law committee. He is managing partner of Anderson Law,
where he has worked since 1994. Before that he worked at law fi rm Bristows. Anderson specialises in patent licensing
and has worked with companies in the technology, engineering and life sciences industries. He said: “T e standard for chairing this
committee has been set very high in recent years. I hope to continue our infl uential contributions to IP policy to promote the interests of IP solicitors and bring IP law closer to the centre of the Law Society’s vision.” Andrew Caplen, president of the Law
Society, said: “T e Law Society committees are a valuable asset to the society and provide great expertise, assistance and guidance to the work that we do for our members and in the public interest.”
Pietragallo Gordon brings senior
US law fi rm Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti has added Michael Lazzara to its Pittsburgh offi ce. Lazzara, who joins as senior counsel, will
be a member of the firm’s IP practice group. Before joining the firm, Lazzara was a partner for 15 years at law firm K&L Gates. He focuses on all types of IP law and
handles matters including preparing and prosecuting patent, trademark and copyright applications.
