Analytical Instrumentation PrO-ASTM Centrifuges Combine Accuracy, Strength and Style

Centurion Scientific (UK) have been global leaders in the production of benchtop centrifuges since the 1980’s. The company prides itself on using only the most robust and best quality components that make up their centrifuges. Whilst design is important to Centurian, they recognise the importance of functionality and reliability, their centrifuges have both in abundance and they also minimise noise levels to ensure that their instruments are seen but not heard.

Centurion’s PrO-ASTM range is specifically designed to meet the needs of labs within the hydrocarbon processing sector, whilst adhering to Centurion’s tradition of combining strength with a striking and contemporary design. Such is their confidence in PrO-ASTM, a 3 year warranty is standard on all models.

PrO-ASTM Centrifuges are all heated types and operate from ambient temperatures to 90 degrees Celsius. These units are part of a wide range that can be operated via basic LED buttons to a Premium 155 mm version, with a touch screen format. Models are available on a bench with a trolley, which means the instrument takes up no work area as this unit can be stored underneath the bench. Users can also opt for a floor standing combined unit with castors, which allows them to operate the centrifuge on any sturdy, level surface, this can be wheeled anywhere within the lab – and stored under the bench. PrO-ASTM centrifuges are equipped with imbalance, overheat and over-speed detection devices, lid closure, barrier rings and exhaust areas to ensure maximum safety for operators.

Labs needing to work with ASTM D1290, D1796, D1966, D2273, D1966, D2273, D2709, D2711, D4007, D5546, D893, D91, D96, FTM 791 Methods 3000, 3003, 3004, 3101, 3121, 5661, API 2542, 2548, ISO 3734, 9030, DIN 51793 and NF M 07-020 need look no further!

The Centurion team listened to their customers when designing PrO-ASTM. The customers wanted a centrifuge that was easy and safe to use, accurate, quiet, flexible with sample assistance, fast pelleting and avoided initial sample side deposits – and Centurion can now give them just what they want, backed up by an expert service team.

Gas & LPG Sample Introduction

Module for Reliable and Accurate Trace Level Total Nitrogen/Sulphur/ Chlorine Analysis

Trace Level Total Sulphur/Nitrogen Analysis in Wax Samples

TSHR International have developed a new application note for the simultaneous analysis of Total Sulfur and Nitrogen in wax samples based on high temperature combustion with UV-Fluorescence and chemiluminescence detection in compliance with ASTM D5453 and D4629 methods.

The analysis of wax samples with the TSHR TN/TS 7000 model instrument and liquid autosampler equipped with heated tray and 20 uL sample volume, provides customers significant savings on analysis time and less risk of potential contamination issues.

The obtained RSD’s based on 4 replicates are for nitrogen lower than 4% and for sulphur lower than 2% for the set of wax samples.

The application with heated tray of the HR 7100 sampler, results into an excellent performance and no limitations towards sample pickup or introduction. The Athena software for analyser operation, with method templates, generate also the calibration used for determine the total sulphur and nitrogen content in the samples.

The used TSHR liquids autosampler, HR 7100 model, with maximum 121 positions for 2 mL vials and equipped with heated tray at 60 oC drives the productivity and repeatability of the data as presented in the application note.

TSHR International introduced a new model of Gas & LPG sample introduction module, GM 7000, to connect with the TSHR range of Combustion Elemental Analysers for the analysis of total sulphur, nitrogen and chlorine in a range of pressurised gas and LPG samples. The TSHR GM 7000 module is a compact fully automated and software controlled gas and LPG sampling and sample introduction module provided with fast connectors to easily connect the sample cylinder and take a dedicated sample volume for analysis.

The sample volume will carried towards the combustion analyser for direct analysis of the total sulphur, nitrogen or chlorine content in the Gas or LPG sample.

This enables the user within a few minutes, accurate data in compliance with regulatory methods such as ASTM and UOP standards.

The modularity of the TSHR range of Combustion Elemental Analysers supports the feature to switch easily between Gas/LPG applications and liquids or solids samples with minimum method changeover-time of the analyser.

While operating the GM 7000 for Gas & LPG samples, the TSHR liquids autosampler, HR 7000 model, will still stay in standby mode connected on the analyser for fast switching to analyse liquid hydrocarbon samples.

The enhanced range of TSHR Combustion Elemental Analyser solutions will drive customers in QC and routine labs to high productivity and low costs of operation with high accuracy and reliable total sulphur, nitrogen and chlorine data.
