GREAT SERVICE: Tenant Thomas Gorman, left, with Handyperson

Thousands get small jobs done at home

TENANTS are loving getting a helping hand with odd jobs around the home. Our Handyperson service

is there to help tenants who are over 60 or disabled with small jobs around the home.

And it’s proving a big hit. From March last year to January this year, more than 2,850 tenants used the Handyperson service - with almost 4,900 jobs carried out. Those wee jobs have

ranged from plumbing in washing machines to assembling flat-pack furniture. Tenant Thomas Gorman,

76, from Royston, uses the Handyperson for help washing his windows. He said: “It’s excellent. The guys come to wash my windows and they’re always really friendly. “They even phone me up beforehand to tell me they’re coming round. You couldn’t get a better service.”

Road, Pollok, won a competition in the Evening Times newspaper - and nominated neighbour Patsy McPhee for a garden clean-up. GHA’s environmental staff then set to work transforming Patsy’s garden. Patsy, 71, said: “The garden looks great. I’m over the moon.” Stuart added: “Patsy is a lovely lady and a good neighbour.”

ALWAYS HERE TO HELP: The new-look Handyperson van

Tenant Wilma Wilson,

from Balornock, agrees. Wilma, 67, said: “I couldn’t do without it. I’ve used the guys for jobs such as changing light bulbs and hanging curtains. “They are so nice they’re

like my friends. GHA Chair Gordon Sloan added: “I know how much tenants appreciate the Handyperson - I’ve used it myself.” To make an appointment, phone 0800 111 4404.
