Your career can start right here

Apprenticeship with us can really take you places

IF any young people are looking for a step on the career ladder then we could have just the job. We’re recruiting now for our Modern Apprenticeship programme. If you’re between 16 and 19 and have recently left, or are about to leave, school it could be a good move if you’re looking to earn while you learn. Successful candidates will

work across Wheatley Group - GHA’s parent organisation - in a

range of business areas including housing, support services and care. You’ll get paid work experience and training as well as an SVQ qualification. You’ll also get a generous holiday

allowance and benefits package - and help to find a full-time job when your apprenticeship finishes. Apprenticeships last for two

years and, while there’s no gurantee of a job, most of our

former apprentices have gone on to great careers. You don’t need any formal qualifications to apply. GHA tenant William Gracie,

23, from Drumchapel, started as an apprentice in 2009, and

now works as an enforcement officer in Drumchapel.

He said: “I did my apprenticeship in GHA’s Knightswood office. Staff were really supportive and I learned a lot. “I then worked in Kennishead, Darnley and Pollokshaws before I landed this full-time job last summer. “I’m really enjoying it. “GHA is a great place to work. If you get a foot in the door you have a good chance of getting a full-time job.

“You should grab the opportunity with both hands”

“You should grab the opportunity of an apprenticeship with both hands.” Since 2009, we’ve taken on 196

apprentices - and more than 90% of apprentices have achieved their qualification. GHA Chair Gordon Sloan said: “We

always want to increase opportunities for young people in our communities. “Our apprenticeship programme can help young people take the first steps in a rewarding career.” Vacancies for our apprenticeships

are advertised at www.glasgow. mappit.org.uk

r thought I’d come so far so quickly

here but as soon as I started I knew I wanted to stay. Straight away you feel a valued member of the team. There’s a lot of hands-on learning and support from colleagues. You get a really good grounding

here and it makes you ready for any job.

I was in different roles before

I started as a housing officer six months ago. I love being a housing officer. The best part is having the power to make a difference to people’s lives - helping someone move into a new home, or getting an adaptation they needed.
