SNODLAND Town Council has launched the Kent Police Speed- watch scheme following concerns raised by residents. Funding has been obtained

from Kent County Council and the Snodland Partnership, and a monitor has been bought to check the speed of vehicles in the town. To enable the council to go
ahead with the scheme, volun- teers are needed to man themon- itor and log details for the police. Full training and support will be provided by Kent Police. The scheme aims to provide a

Library talk
A LOCAL history talk is planned for Snodland Library in the High Street at 7pm on Friday May 12. Christoph Bull will tell an amusing story of Kentish public libraries: "The good, the bad and the ugly." Christoph Bull has entertained
many local groups with illustrated talks. He is municipal mace bearer for Gravesham Borough Council and historical advisor to Swanscombe and Greenhithe Town Council. Tickets are £2.50.
Members of the Snodland congregation took part in the Palm Sunday PrayerWalk from All Saints’ Church to Christ Church.
MORE than 200 people were at Snodland Commu- nity Centre for the first amateur boxing tournament in the town for 60 years. Clubs from London, Swindon, Kemsing, Dartford,
Folkestone,Bromley, the Medway Towns, Strood and Essexwere represented in what Snodland chairman, Dave Phillips, described as "a great show". The club meets at the community centre on Tues-
days and Thursdays: juniors, aged from nine-16 from 7-8pm, and over 16s from 8-9pm. The club started in 1982 and moved to the commu-
nity centre in 2009. It is sponsored byChata Hygiene. Dave thanked community centre staff for helping to
make the evening such a success –Dilys Crook, Chris Howick, Ray and Linda Offord – and trainers Mark West, Mark Burren and Dean Ianson. Six members of the Snodland club took part. They

Quiz night for
church funds THE Friends of All Saints’ Church are holding a quiz night at Christ Church Community Hall, Malling Road, Snodland. The event at 7pm on April 29, is hoping to raise money for All Saints Church Restoration Fund. Tickets cost £6, which includes
a ploughman's meal, and are available from Home & Hobby in Malling Road.
