News Police prevent

illegal party SPEAKERS and cabling destined to power up an illegal rave in Kent were found in a remote area near Aylesford. A Kent Police PCSO spotted the equipment in Bushey Wood, be- tween Eccles and Burham. An area had been cleared for an unlicensed party, or rave. Organisers of unlicensed music

events and private parties are re- minded they could face prosecution. Inspector Nick Sparkes said:

“Kent Police encourages people to enjoy themselves at lawful and li- cenced music events, balanced with residents’ having a right to peace and a quality of life. “Unlicensed events can be ex- tremely disruptive for local commu- nities, and can cause damage to commercial premises, the country- side and farmland. “We are reminding organisers

and those who attend such events that you could be committing a number of crimes including crimi- nal damage and public order of- fences. “We will continue to take robust

action where appropriate and this could mean bringing people before the courts. It’s also a waste of time and money to travel, only to find the event has not gone ahead.”
