Olympia, WA. ~ I love art gal- leries. Usually, there is a lot to be offered such as beautiful art, mini art trinkets and imagina- tive perspectives that keep an active artist like myself very intertested

in creating new

pieces of work. Sometimes, I’ve walked into a gallery and found it to be very stuffy, and almost pre- tentious.

But not

art gallery owner Jeff Barrett,

he’s the real deal. He’s ex- cited about his artists. Only just

last year he bought this exist- ing gallery. It was always his dream. Some of the art had in- credible colors, others, whim- sical and light. But when my wife, my daughter(an ArtQuest student

at Santa Rosa High

School) and myself walked into Jeff’s store he immediate- ly greeted us with a big smile. Being from Sonoma County, we are happy when someone

is glad we walked through the door.

On the cover of the March 2017 issue of Upbeat Times we featured 1/2 of

Jennifer Bow-

mans art piece and told you we would have the rest of the art! Here it is right in Jeffs gallery! State of the Arts Gallery has

been around

since 1992. They’re located the

on corner

of 5th and Washing- ton St. in downtown Olympia,

WA, which seemed

very similar to down- town Santa

Rosa in an offhand way. OH WOW, is

commonly

heard as people first enter the gallery says owner Jeff. The di- versity and quality of over 200 artist’s amazes them. A visit to Olympia just isn’t complete without a stop by the gallery to ohhhh and ahhh over local as well as Northwest talent. Gal- lery hours are Monday through Friday 10:30 to 6:00, Saturday

Make sure that if your ever in the neighborhood and in downtown Olympia, you say hi to Jeff, and let him know you heard about him in the Upbeat Times! ~ Paul Andrew Doyle
