the recipient of this year’s outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy has dedicated her career to the development of the profession, to the community pharmacy sector and to serving the local community.


Sarah Mawhinney graduated 40 years ago and, since then, has served the profession by actively participating in a breathtakingly long list of committees, advisory groups and

boards; deservedly earning a fellowship of the Society in 2013.


‘Sarah’s contribution to the profession has been outstanding,’ said UCA President, Cliff McElhinney, who gave the citation.


‘As someone with great foresight, she had a keen interest in developing new services: prescribing advice for gP practices, repeat dispensing


services, connected health, and health and wellbeing initiatives as part of Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership, which is now at the fore of the former Health Minister’s Vision – Health & Wellbeing 2026.

have received this award at this time is very special.’
