YOUR JOURNEY MAGNIFICENT MEKONG | Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City

Day 10 Phnom Penh. After breakfast, disembark in Cambodia’s lovely waterfront capital and explore the city in style, in a cyclo. Your included tour takes you to the magnificent Royal Palace with its spectacular Silver Pagoda. Then take a tour of the National Museum of Cambodia, which houses treasures of Khmer art and craftsmanship and also displays art that predates the mighty empire. After lunch, join an included excursion to the sobering memorial in the Tuol Sleng detention centre and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. Or explore the city’s maze of small alleys, markets and busy streets on your own if you prefer. Tonight’s dinner on board is accompanied by a folkloric performance.

Day 11 Mekong River. Sail the Mekong towards the Vietnamese border, and glide alongside picturesque rice fields, where life has changed little over time. Arrive in the busy riverside port of Châu Ðô´c in the evening.

Day 12 Tân Châu and Vinh Hoa. Take a traditional rickshaw ride around the charming town of Tân Châu, famous for its silk, as part of your included tour. Then travel by wooden sampan to a floating fish farm before taking a boat ride to Vinh Hoa, known as ‘Evergreen Island’. Here you can see how traditional Vietnamese farming methods are still in use today, and discover the local crafts. Set sail in the afternoon. This evening brings an on board screening of the film L’Amant in preparation for tomorrow’s visit to Sa Ðéc.

Day 13 Sa Ðéc and Cái Bè. In Sa Ðec, see the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, the protagonist in Maguerite Duras'
