Day 1 Lyon. From Lyon airport we take you to your award-winning Viking Longship where you can settle in and relax. Your time is free to begin to explore this vibrant and sophisticated city, built where the Saône meets the Rhône.


Day 2 Lyon. Wake up in Lyon, a city renowned for its fabulous food, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Beaujolais wine region. See the Moulin-à-Vent, the windmill that lends its name to the famous wine. Visit a small museum to learn about the art of winemaking and enjoy a tasting in one of the region’s famous cellars. Return to your ship for lunch and enjoy the rest of your day to explore. Or take an optional tour to the pretty Burgundy town of Cluny with its picturesque Benedictine monastery, before returning for dinner on board. Your ship remains docked overnight, so you may like to dine ashore in one of Lyon’s famous bouchons or Michelin-starred restaurants.


Day 3 Lyon. On your final day in this exciting city, take an included drive to the top of Fourvière Hill for amazing views of the city. Visit the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourvière and see the magnificent St. Jean Cathedral and the Palace of Justice. Take a walking tour through the Old Town and enjoy free time to shop and sample the finest French food in one of the city’s famous food halls.

Lyon to Avignon


Day 4 Vienne and Tournon. In the beautiful riverside town of Vienne enjoy an included walking tour and discover the town’s Roman history. Visit the Temple of Augustus and Livia, as well as the Roman amphitheatre. Built between 40 and 50 AD the theatre originally held around 13,000 spectators. See the Gothic Cathedral of St. Maurice, and enjoy free time to explore this ancient town. In the afternoon, take in the stunning scenery as you sail alongside picturesque vineyards to Tournon. The town is famous for its red wines, and after dinner, you may like to enjoy a stroll ashore.
