Squire and Partners have been granted planning permission to develop a children’s care home for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in Stevenage. Squire and Partners will work alongside a

team featuring Sellar, Pears Property, Jones Lang LaSalle and Erith to create “an inspir- ing space for palliative care, relaxation and adventure within a ‘home from home’ environment.” The facility will be set amidst a 7.5 acre ‘natural reserve’ and will be the only

FLOATING AN IDEA Floating Park to open in Paddington

Acclaimed garden designer Tony Woods has been commissioned to create the new ‘Floating Pocket Park’ in Merchant Square in Paddington, London. Developed by European Land and Property, the 730 m2

park will ‘float’ on

the Grand Union Canal and feature open lawn areas planted with mixed dense borders and communal seating. There will also be a series of decked platforms allowing people to ‘walk on water’. Former Royal Horticultural Society

Young Garden Designer of the Year and Gold medalist Tony Woods, who led the design, commented: “Not only is this a truly one of a kind garden for London but a huge re-think of the way that we

create public space in urban areas.” The park, set to open this spring, will

form part of the Greater London Authority’s Green Infrastructure initia- tive to improve public spaces in London.

hospice serving central and north London and Hertsmere. The building is organised around an oak-framed hall flanked by two brick-clad ‘wings’ with openable timber panels and windows overlooking the gardens. Murray Levinson, partner at Squire

and Partners, said: “Our aim is to create an uplifting environment to enrich the experience of those using the building, whether as patients, family members or support workers.”
