Training dates in 2017 are 22/23 April, 3/4 June, 1/2 July and 2/3 September. If you are interested in taking a course at this superb

location then please contact Mal Hartland - trainingdsc@googlemail.com.

The club is also a superb location for youth training and just £50 gets 10 sessions. They are all on Saturdays from 10:30 - 3:30 with a minimum age of 8 years. The first youth date will take place on 8th April. The older ones can then go on to compete in the DSC team at the 12 hour race at Southport Marine Lake organised by West Lancs Yacht Club. Saddleworth Rounders League 2017: These Girls can!

It is nearly time for the new rounders season to begin and all existing team are very excited by this and are hoping to replace current the champions Gandtrack Girls as the league winners of the 21st rounders season. The league will start in May and games will once again be played on Churchill Playing Fields, the league currently has 8 teams, Gandtrack Girls, Gandtrack Gems, Marsden Ladies, Mossley Ladies, Phoenix, The Dog, Wildthings and Uppermill. Matches are all played on a Sunday morning and the league is a great way to meet new people. There is a real range of abilities from England players to new starters. The league is also for all ages the youngest players are 14 and the oldest would be reluctant to tell you their ages (50+)!

Last year we had a number of new players and here is what one of them said about her experiences ‘My name is Jen from Bury and I'm new to the league (play for Wildthings). The Sunday mornings are now worth getting up early for. There's a great mix of teams, the competitive go get ems and the slightly laid back have a go and have some fun girls. It's a great atmosphere. And you never know what might happen... Miracles and disappointments but still leaves me wanting to come back each Sunday morning. Having a ball so far (pardon the pun!!). ‘

If you want to get involved, new teams and players are always welcome, please get in touch via our Facebook group Saddleworth Rounders League or by emailing me Helen Bradbury helen.bradbury@talk21.com.
