Out & About The White Lion

New Chef Joins the Winning Team One of Saddleworth's best loved pubs has welcomed a new member to its elite team. Talented pastry chef Sophie Finnigan has joined the White Lion in Delph full time to work alongside Head Chef Alan Warrior.

"It's great to work with Alan as a Commis chef and join the White Lion on a full time basis." Says Sophie. " We are planning plenty of changes to improve the menu even further, including introducing a wealth of vegetarian and gluten free options."

Head Chef Alan welcomes Sophie Finnigan to the team

As well as a fantastic range of light bites and meals (including the popular Soup & Sandwich for £5 and Meal Deals for smaller appetites 2 for £6... available Monday - Friday before 4pm), Alan and Sophie are now serving daily specials, which includes Steak Nights every Tuesday and Pizza & Pasta Nights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is also a fantastic range of starter and dessert options available, as well as children's menu which will certainly keep them happy. Every Sunday there is no other place to be, as you can take advantage of the two for one offer on Sunday Roasts, including a vegetarian nut roast option with all the trimmings.

On the 25th February the White Lion team hosted a fantastic charity hoe down which enjoyed a great turn out, in spite of the horrible weather. Guests certainly got into the spirit and all dressed in cowboy and girl gear. The all new Pitch Fork Fondue was trailed at the event which certainly went down a storm with hungry revellers, who all commented how great the food was on offer. Please note that outside catering and the Pitch Fork Fondue can be hired for your event, so please contact Warrior & Co for further details. Keep an eye out for a new website coming soon and on Facebook.

At the event the results of the Al Vs Al Challenge were announced as Alan and colleague Alex Smith battled it out to see who could lose the most weight for charity. Well after a hard fought contest over a number of weeks, Alan came out victorious, but more importantly the guys raised money for both Prostrate Cancer and the Genesis Breast Cancer Charity, so well done guys!
