Goodwick United’s Jonny Horgan: Pembrokeshire beat Neath Neath

Pembrokeshire

0 1

HAKIN UNITED’S Ben Steele

scored the only goal of the game as the Pembrokeshire League beat their counterparts from Neath 1-0 on Wednesday, January 11. The game was played at Briton

Ferry Llansawel and Steele’s first half goal was enough to set them on their way to victory in the SB Williams Inter League Competition. Pembrokeshire survived a

fightback late on as Neath looked for a late equaliser, but it never came. The other game on the night saw

Carmarthenshire take on Swansea and that game ended in a 4-4 draw. Pembrokeshire’s final game of the

season is against the Swansea Senior League and takes place at Garden Village on Wednesday (Jan 25) with an 8pm kick off. The squad need just a point from that game to win the SB Williams

competition. Pembrokeshire Squad: Adam John (Hakin

Utd), Ben Aldred (Hakin Utd), Ben Steele (Hakin Utd), Joe Leahy (Merlins Bridge), Tony Evans (Narberth), Patrick Hannon (Neyland), Henry Durrant (Neyland), Scott Crawford (West Dragons), Ashley Williams (West Dragons), Gethin Roberts (West Dragons), Steve Allen (West Dragons), Jonny Horgan (Goodwick Utd), Wayne O’Sullivan (Goodwick Utd), Scott Delayney (Goodwick Utd).

Rooks too good for Neyland Carew

4 Neyland 2 CAREW picked up their seventh

win of the season as they overcame a struggling Neyland side by four goals to two on Saturday (Jan 14). The win for Carew means they are

now 15 points above the bottom two and they also have games in hand on the teams around them. Defeat for Neyland sees them slip

to ninth in the table and they have not won in the league since October 1. Carew won the reverse fixture by

six goals to one on December 10 but Neyland were keen to avenge that defeat.

Instead, it was the Rooks who

proved too strong for Neyland with Scott Ferney scoring a brace while their other goals came from Jordan Richards and Iwan Izzard. Mike Chandler pulled a goal back

for Neyland and an own goal brought them to within two goals of their opponents but they were unable to add to the scoring. Carew have now won five games

in a row and on Saturday (Jan 21), they will be looking to keep that run going when they take on Narberth. Neyland will be desperate to get

back to winning ways and on the same day they are away to bottom side Johnston.

ball over the top found Levi Jones and he drilled a low shot into the bottom left corner of the goal. The visitors then got back into the

match when the ball found its way to Dafydd Wright on the edge of the box and he produced a stunning effort which flew into the top right corner. Narberth were then given a free

kick and after the keeper failed to gather the ball Dylan Davies had the easiest of tasks to tap the ball into the

empty net. The whistle then brought an end

to an excellent first half but both sides still had hopes of going on to win the game.

However, despite chances, neither

side were able to add to the scoring and were forced to settle for a share of the points. On Saturday (Jan 21), Narberth are

away to Carew while Milford are away to second from bottom Pennar.

Goodwick United

GOODWICK UNITED

moved above Tenby to fifth in the table as they beat them 3-0 on Saturday (Jan 14), thanks to a hat trick from Scott Delaney. The visitors took the lead after

15 minutes when a Tony Evans corner was bundled into the net by

Scott Delaney. Goodwick were dominant and

missed several chances to increase the lead but they eventually scored their second on the stroke of half time when, from another Evans corner, Delaney out-jumped the defence to head the ball into the net.

The win was sealed in second

half injury time when Jonny Horgan was brought down in the

ANGLE and the West Dragons

had to settle for a point each in an entertaining game on Saturday (Jan 14).

Scott Crawford opened the scoring

for the Dragons midway through the first half. His shot from distance deceived the home goalkeeper. Two minutes into the second half,

Angle were level as Craig Turner controlled and volleyed into the

bottom corner. Angle went ahead on the hour mark as Craig Turner headed home a corner. Scott Crawford headed home a Lee
