of care, support and guidance that pupils receive, reporting it has a very positive effect on pupils’ standards and well-being. Phil Bowen, Chair of Governors,
congratulated the whole school community on the recent Estyn inspection report. He said: “I am proud of the exceptional effort made by all staff to ensure we provide an exemplary education for all pupils at Pembroke Dock Community School.” The report states that headteacher
Michele Thomas ‘provides clear and exceptional leadership, has a strong vision for the school and had a strong, supportive team spirit across the school and a culture of promoting innovation. Governors understand their roles and act as effective ‘critical friends’ in questioning and challenging leaders and managers’. Inspectors also found that nearly

their own learning and want to help others to succeed. The school’s provision for
promoting the Welsh language, culture and heritage was also found to be very effective. The school’s self-evaluation
procedures were also praised, with the report adding they ‘provide a model for other schools across the local authority and region. There is an open culture where, for example, staff encourage pupils to review their teaching. This helps teachers to identify ways that help pupils to learn best’. The school has made very
good progress in addressing the recommendations of the last inspection report. Headteacher Mrs Michele Thomas
said that she was very proud of the report and praised the whole school community. “The outcome of the report
is a result of sheer hard work and dedication from all the stakeholders. “I was particularly pleased that the
impact of pupil voice and participation was noted. We are a Children’s Rights Respecting School and value the input pupils make to the working of the school. There was also reference to the strong, supportive team spirit across the school and the culture of promoting innovation. “We are always seeking ways to
further improve and look forward to building on the school’s successes.” Estyn’s report on Pembroke Dock
