Delta to start first direct link to Portland next May

Portland in Oregon is to be served by a direct transatlantic service from the UK for the first time next summer.


Delta Air Lines will run a seasonal service from Heathrow four times a week to the US West Coast city from May 26, 2017. It comes as part of changes


by Delta and UK partner Virgin Atlantic to their respective summer 2017 schedules to optimise their joint network between the two countries. Delta will replace Virgin on


the Heathrow-Detroit route from March 26 and will take over a second daily Heathrow-Atlanta service from Virgin from May 25. Virgin Atlantic will start serving


Seattle from Heathrow, replacing the daily service currently operated by Delta, from March 26. A daily nonstop service between Manchester and New York JFK currently operated by Delta will be taken over by Virgin, with the US carrier resuming the service for winter 2017.


SIA to start service to capitals of Australia and New Zealand


Singapore Airlines is to introduce flights to Canberra and Wellington as part of its Capital Express service. The flights will operate four times a week on a Singapore- Canberra-Wellington routeing from September 20. Flights will be aboard 266-seat Boeing 777 aircraft fitted with

The airlines’ joint summer 2017 schedule includes a total of 42 peak daily nonstop flights between the US and the UK. Erik Varwijk, commercial

the “strength and flexibility” of the airlines’ partnership, which Delta and Virgin entered into in 2014. Delta owns 49% of Virgin Atlantic. Varwijk said: “The network

Lufthansa will resume its Frankfurt-Cape Town route on December 2. The three- times-a-week service will fly on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and connect with regional flights from UK airports.
