ver the past few years, there has been a renewed crusade for better health. This has led to a slight uptick in the


growth of the health and fitness sec- tor. Even though the projected growth rate is somewhat minor, I expect 2 to 5 percent growth year-over-year for the next three to five years. Some of this growth will be related to: a young- er member base, shifting from Baby Boomers to Millennials; a greater lev- el of disposal income; an advertising and medical focus on wellness; and an increasing number of younger chil- dren involved in local and club sports. There have also been many more gym and fitness options available for consumers over the last three to five years. Some of those options include low-cost/high-volume, low-cost/high- value, spas, studios, and more which are being developed daily. I feel that

Two of my favourite events are IHRSA and the REX Roundtables where people have the opportunity to meet with leading club owners from around the world.
