2017 AGM The 2017 KWPN-NA Annual General Meeting will take place in Lexington, Kentucky on March 2–5. During this multi-day event we will be celebrating another year that the KWPN dressage and jumper horses are considered the best in the world! Once again attendees will be provided with an exciting and educational program. Attendees will be given the oppor- tunity to visit the Kentucky Horse Park, as well as amazing equestrian venues. We welcome members and non-members alike, as well as special discounts for our youth and the YKWPN-NA for this exceptional learning opportunity. Special presenters this year include Bart Henstra, Bert Rutten and Dr. Scott Hooper of Rood & Riddle. Bart Henstra has been a KWPN jury member since 2003 and has been the head of the North American jury since 2008. Together with his girlfriend Pytrick Adema, he runs Stal Henstra, a highly successful breeding and training stable for

both jumpers and dres- sage horses in Droge- ham, Friesland. Bert Rutten has had a very successful international competition career, qualifying twice to represent the Nether- lands at the Olympics. This experience has provided the founda- tion of his phenomenal career as a dressage trainer and producer of top-class horses for sale. Bert breeds and purchases young horses and trains his talented horses to see them go on to find new homes in stables around the world. Bert is currently one of the four jury members for the KWPN stallion approv- als. Scott Hopper (DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS) is a shareholder in the Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, specializing in surgery and equine reproduction. To stay up to date on the AGM, you can visit our website at
www.kwpn-na.org or our Facebook page—the sign-up form and all the exciting details will be posted in both locations.
Young KWPN-NA An exciting new initiative has come to North America for KWPN enthusiasts under 30! The Young KWPN-NA is well underway and growing steadily, with some truly amazing opportunities for our members. Follow along on Facebook, Instagram or subscribe to the Young KWPN-NA newsletter to receive all the information right in your inbox. On December 24, 2016 there was an announcement regarding the winner of their free two-year LFG contract contest sponsored by plati- num-level KWPN breeder Iron Spring Farm. (The name of the winner was not available at press time.) Young KWPN-NA will be having more contests for swag
and extremely exciting larger items—be sure to become a member and follow all our social media so you don’t miss out. They are looking forward to welcoming several of their members to the annual general meeting in Kentucky, where they will be hosting a clinic on the Sunday for Young KWPN- NA members. Train your eye, learn to present a horse properly and ask questions of some of the best in the business. This will also act as the final stage of the selections for the Young KWPN-NA team selection for the International Young Breed- ers Championship, which takes place in July 2017 in Calgary, Alberta. If you are interested in being part of the team but are
unable to attend the meeting, please get in touch with execu- tive members of Young KWPN-NA to express your interest. Our goal is to engage and educate the next generation of KWPN breeders and riders. Let us know how we can assist you in achieving your goal—send us an email at youngkwpn@
gmail.com or visit us on Facebook! v
