draw on first-class resources and experience as they make their breeding plans and build their programs. In an effort to recognize the success of our breeders and

members, the AHHA offers its own annual awards program. Members may register for the AHHA awards program annu- ally simply by indicating a desire to participate and declar- ing what discipline and at which levels they will be compet- ing with their horse or horses. The AHHA awards program serves foreign-bred Holsteiners along with domestically-bred Holsteiners. At the end of the competition year, the USEF and USDF databases competition points are used to deter- mine the award winners for all disciplines and divisions for which there are entries. The AHHA recognizes the award winners with ribbons, certificates and in some cases coolers. Holsteiner publishes the results in the awards issue, including any photo submissions. The AHHA annual awards ceremony is included at the AHHA annual general meeting.

Holsteiners are Winners The AHHA breeders and members are a group closely tied to sport horse success. For over 30 years, AHHA breeders have been producing horses for all disciplines and have achieved a considerable amount of success, producing top horses in all disciplines and at all levels. Professional and amateur riders alike have shown AHHA-bred horses all over the country and, indeed, all over the world. The AHHA website www.holsteiner.com maintains a breeder directory with a list of active breeders with horses for sale. Grand Prix show jumpers such as Atlas, Sandstone Monte-

cristo, Roman Saluut, Southern Pride, Lt. Kijie, Chicardo and, just this year, Lord Arthur 1916, have all represented the AHHA at the top levels of show jumping competition. AHHA- bred eventers have achieved at the highest levels as well. This year’s AHHA Advanced Level Horse of the Year, Cleverly, was successful at the Advanced and 3-star levels. Cleverly is joined by other AHHA Advanced level event horses including R Star, Doesn’t Play Fair, BFleeceworks Royal, Le Samurai, High Times and Happenstance. Many AHHA members and breeders are dressage enthu-

siasts. There is no shortage of amateur dressage riders each season at the AHHA awards ceremony. At the high- est levels as well the AHHA has produced some notewor- thy individuals. Most recently the gelding Cinnco De Mayo, bred and produced here in the U.S., was sold to a German buyer and rider and qualified individually for the 2014 WEG. Other AHHA horses competing at the FEI levels this past year include Adesco C, Catapult and Austin Chase, all recent participants in the AHHA awards program. Amateur Amy Leach has taken her Holsteiner Radcliffe to Grand Prix, winning numerous awards. And certainly not to be forgotten is the 2007 NAYJRC dressage team gold and individual silver medalist, Elektra, ridden by Alexandra Duncan. Hunters cannot be left off the list either when looking at

the success of the AHHA breeders. From the Pre-Green and Amateur divisions through the Performance Hunter divisions, Champesino and Zoretta were winners in the show ring and

in the AHHA awards program in 2016. In the Sallie B. Wheeler Hunter Breeding Championships, Ethereal Blue was the 2015 East Coast Breed Champion. In 2012, De Suena was the West Coast 2-year-old champion overall. The stylish Tell All showed in the Amateur Owner and Working Hunter divisions and may be the most successful AHHA-bred hunter ever. The AHHA offers members and breeders alike resources and opportunities helpful in pursuing any goals involv- ing breeding and competing Holsteiner horses bred both here and abroad. Through Holsteiner magazine, annual Board of Director elections and a robust annual general meeting, members are assured input and transparency in all phases of their endeavors. The AHHA always welcomes new members and encourages those seeking more infor- mation about the AHHA to visit the organization’s website, www.Holsteiner.com. Please make full use of our breeder directory when looking for your next competitive part- ner or breeding horse. Even those just looking for some new contacts or sources of information will find the AHHA website a helpful place to visit and the AHHA a helpful and friendly organization to be part of. v
