Heading the Department of Inter- nal Cooperation, he, together with Dr Edward Kendall, is charged with ensur- ing that the WBFSH fulfils its mandate to engage member stud books by shar- ing expertise and through collaborative projects. The department’s main activ- ity is to stimulate cooperation among member studbooks using regional fora. The WBFSH is the ideal platform for
international cooperation between stud books and is seeking to encourage greater participation by non-European stud books. “There is much discussion amongst non-European breeders about which organization best looks after their interests,” Chris Gould says. “It seems
clear to me that a healthy national stud book working on behalf of local breeders at the international level provides the best of both worlds: international recognition and cooperation through the WBFSH while providing the necessary sharing of resources to provide services for registration, selection, marketing and promotion at the local level.” For more information, go to
