Annual awards are open for business

Three new categories have been added to next year’s annual Chamber awards and dinner, which promises to be bigger and better than ever. The new categories are ‘Excellence in

Manufacturing’, ‘Excellence in Sales and Marketing’ and ‘Business of the Year’. The latter will be drawn from the winners of the other seven categories. The new awards will be presented for the first

time at the awards and dinner on 30 March at the ICC, in the heart of the city. ‘Excellence in Manufacturing’ is a nod to the

region’s rich manufacturing heritage, which has its roots in the Industrial Revolution. Although the region is today known for many

commercial activities, including service industries, retailing and tourism, it remains the UK’s industrial heartland, hence the new award. There are also awards for People

Development, Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, International Business, Contribution to Community, Manufacturing, Retail and Business of the Year.

Nominations for the awards are being invited

now, and businesses can enter up to two categories. Entrants need to complete an entry form for each category entered. The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday 20 January 2017. Details of the full rules for the awards will be included on the entry form. The judges will create a short-list for each category, with the winners being announced at the dinner. The event is the largest cross-business sector

dinner and awards event in the region, and there will be a number of sponsorship opportunities for those interested in raising their profile. Chamber events manager Joanna Bond said: “Sponsorship provides businesses with the opportunity to raise their profile and get their brand in front of the key inflencers and decision makers from across the region and beyond.”

Sponsor Chamber event collaboration

Sponsorship packages are still available for the first ever Sutton and Lichfield and Tamworth Chambers’ New Year Business Dinner and Awards. It is the first time the two Chambers have

collaborated on such an event, and during the proceedings each of the three towns they cover will name its ‘Business of the Year.’ As well as Sutton, there will be an award

for Lichfield, and one for Tamworth. The event is being staged at The Belfry Hotel on 26 January. Nominations for the awards have now closed. Julia Gray, business development manager at Sutton Chamber, said: “This will be the first time there has been an awards events to find the ‘Business of the Year’ in Sutton, Lichfield and Tamworth. “It will be a high-profile event, and the first of its kind in the region.”
