SUFFOLK YACHT HARBOUR EXPANDS ITS OFFERING

A

dding to its existing 60 and 75 tonne boat hoists and two cranes, Suffolk Yacht

Harbour has taken delivery of a new, custom built, 15 tonne boat hoist. As part of a wider business development plan, the new hoist represents a major new investment. The increased lifting capability will benefit local and visiting yachtsmen as well as the marine industry in the region. The bespoke hoist, commissioned for Suffolk Yacht Harbour by marine mobile lifting specialists Wise, has a clear inside width of 4 metres and can handle boats up to 13 metres in length

overall. With a wireless remote control and four-wheel drive with differential locks, the new hoist will also increase security and safety when travelling up and down the slipway. Bob Gibbon, cranage and lifting

manager, commented, “The main advantage of the new 15 tonne hoist is it will allow movement of vessels above the upper limit of our previous 10 tonne hoist and below the lower remit of our existing 60 and 75 tonne hoists. It will also increase efficiency by reducing launch lead times, and will expand the number of boats we can launch or lift out during the busy spring and autumn periods.”

Suffolk Yacht Harbour offers the largest boat lifting and launching facilities between Bridlington in Yorkshire and the Solent on the south coast, with the capability to handle vessels from small 6m day sailors to 20m work boats. Managing director Jonathan

Dyke adds, “The new hoist is part of a significant investment into developing the facilities at the marina to ensure we continually exceed the expectations of the marine industry on the east coast and attract visitors and businesses from further afield.” To watch video footage of the new hoist, visit www.youtube.com and search ‘Suffolk Yacht Harbour boat hoist’.
