Why Macmillan?

This journey really started on the 9th November 2013 with a telephone call “Hi Dad, Just to let you know – nothing to worry about but I am in A&E with suspected appendicitis.” We now know it wasn’t appendicitis but bowel cancer that had spread to the liver. The impact of trying to live when your income suddenly stops, deal with Chemotherapy and follow up operations is made much worse by the stress of dealing with statutory bodies, like the inland revenue, that have zero concern for your wellbeing. Macmillan continues to help our son and thousands of others to cope with the effects of their illness. That is why we do what we can to support them.
