Keep your eyes open for raspberries, plums and saskatoons hidden into floral displays. Two very special gardens: Patrick Seymour Alpine Garden.
This garden was named after the Devonian’s former director, Patrick Seymour. He oversaw the develop- ment of the Devonian for 25 years (1971-1996). It was Seymour’s direc- tion and influence that created much of the gardens you see here today. Breathtaking is the only way to
describe one of the largest alpine gardens in North America, displayed across five acres. Alpines are plants that grow about the treeline of the mountains and this garden is filled with these unique and intriguing plants. Early spring is a wonderful time to explore this garden as many of these plants flower early. Don’t miss Connie’s Secret Garden at the north end of the Alpine Garden. Kurimoto Japanese Garden. Creat-
