Fairly Important Matters

Federation Reaches Out To Agricultural Organizations In Florida By: Lisa Hinton

It’s been a busy summer for the Federation. The Board is working diligently to strengthen our partnerships with the

agricultural community and have had numerous meetings with various ag organizations throughout the state. As we have held these meetings, it has truly hit me as to what a tremendous impact our Fairs have in our communities and what an integral part they play in educating the public about Flor- ida’s agricultural industry. One of the first meetings was with the Florida Farm Bureau Federation and President John Hoblick and staff members Kevin Morgan and Frankie Hall. Farm Bureau and Fairs go hand-in- hand and the group brainstormed ideas on ways to strength the relationship between the two organizations. On that same day, the group met with Ronnie Simmons, Execu-

tive Secretary for the Florida FFA Association and he gave us a tour of the new FFA offices that are adjacent to Florida Farm Bu- reau. Again, it brought to light how important FFA and Fairs are and how important it is for us to strengthen our relationships. Several Federation representatives also met with Commissioner

Adam Putnam and Cheryl Flood. The group discussed legislative issues and brainstormed ideas for more cooperative projects between the Florida Department of Agriculture and the Florida Federation of Fairs.

Members of the Legislative Committee met with the Florida FFA staff to help strengthen our partnership with the agricultural industry. L to R: Ronnie Simmons, Kevin Kent, and Hannah Huggins with Florida FFA and Paul Davis, Tom Umiker, and Dan Wese.

The group also met with Dan West, Paul Davis and Tom Umiker
