President’s Column Where has this year gone? It seems like just last month we had

the May Convention, and I became the President. WOW! How time flies! Fortunately, so much has been completed, seen, and accomplished or even planned. My first duty as President was to set up the committees, and

this was not an easy task. I spent numerous hours reviewing and considering the committee request forms, but I had also reviewed the current committee’s completed duties and desired accom- plishments. I feel that I have organized a great group of people to continue their efforts and also a great group with some new ideas. Some of the committees have already been meeting to work on

the plans of an awesome 2017 convention at Buena Vista Palace in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Due to the new hotel, these groups will have quite a bit of planning. In December, we will also be hold- ing our annual board meeting in Lake Buena Vista, so we can meet and plan more with the committee chairman and the hotel staff. I would like to thank everyone who has already been dili- gently working on the 2017 convention. The Pensacola Interstate Fair would love to thank everyone

who attended and presented at the Summer Workshop in July. It was a long drive to Pensacola for some, but their travels made it

convenient for others who would not normally be able to attend the convention. We were all thrilled by the attendance; it was much higher than we anticipated. In August, 24 members and 10

fairs from Florida visited the Min- nesota State Fair. The group took lots of pictures and posted them in Dropbox. WHAT AN EXCITING FAIR! I have visited quite a few fairs during my career, and I was certainly impressed with this one. This fair had even set a new at- tendance record of 1,943,719 for the 12 day event. I continue to see how the northern fair goers love to eat, yet not ride. Since October is the start of the fair season for Florida, I want

to wish everyone luck for beautiful weather and a safe fair. Felecia Frenkel Chivington, Federation President
